The practice of Yoga Nidra can help all people and any issue that you are struggling with. It is the most grounding, supportive, healing modality in my practice. Yoga Nidra supports us on all layers of our being. The practice helps us to access a place where body/mind/spirit can feel more integrated. It helps to support better sleep, rest, relaxation, overall functioning, and healing where healing is needed. Practicing Yoga Nidra supports all other practices of yoga and any other complementary treatment modalities or traditional Western practices that you may be using for any malady you may be experiencing.

The practice of Yoga Nidra is a way into deep rest, where our stress response can calm, and our rest, relax, digest, and heal response can take over. The practice will move you through grounding and centering, offer support in creating intention and then into a full body scan allowing your physical body to relax fully. Then, you will be guided to experience your energy body and the movement of the life force through your system. You'll be guided into your own imaginal realm of wisdom and insight, intuition and imagery, ultimately expanding into the part of you that is able to connect with something larger than the everyday version on you--it helps you to remember your True Self.

In yoga, each of the parts of you that Yoga Nidra moves through during practice are called koshas, a Sanskrit word meaning "sheath" or "layer." The practice of yoga nidra moves through each of these layers, taking us to the center of ourselves and supporting expansion into spirit. In grief and trauma, illness, and fatigue, we can become depleted on all of these layers. The practice of Yoga Nidra helps strengthen each of these layers, bringing calm to the body, peace to the mind, support to the spirit, and connection to the soul.

What to expect~

Once you register, you will recieve the Zoom link for the session. I will open the Zoom room about 5 minutes before the start time. I will close the room once we begin. If you miss the live version, you will still get the recording.

You can have your camera on or off, but please remember to be respectful of others and mute your audio.

Each session will last around 40 minutes to an hour. After the ending of practice, I will end the meeting. You don't need to do anything. You are welcome to remain still, nap, or to move on with your day or evening.

If you can't make it live, no worries. You will be emailed your link to the recording no later than the next day. The link will be active for the next seven days. You will be able to listen and practice as many times as you wish for those 7 days.

What you need to do~

Mainly, all you need to do is listen to the sound of my voice. Yoga Nidra is best practiced lying down, but can be practiced sitting up. I usually advise that you are sitting in such a way that you don't have to use your own muscles to hold yourself up. You also have to worry about potentially falling asleep and out of your chair! So, safety first. Be as fully supported as possible during your practice.

Please have your comfy space set up--yoga mat, bolsters, pillows, whatever you need, before we begin. You can also lie on your bed, sofa, or anyplace you feel comfortable. Wear comfortable clothing that won't feel restrictive. Some people like to use an eye pillow or mask to block out the light and provide a gentle pressure. I recommend a blanket, as the body cools as we become more relaxed.
Each session is provided on a sliding scale. Suggested pricing below
Sustaining: $25
Supporting: $15
Donation: $10 or whatever amount you choose

Want more information about Yoga Nidra?

We typically see Yoga Nidra translated to mean simply “Yogic Sleep," but truly, it is much more than this. When you consider that the word yoga itself, is a Sanskrit word which means union--a yoking together of mind, body, and spirit with something greater than ourselves--the meaning of the practice deepens. All practices of yoga are meant to lead us toward this state of union; to the realization that we are not alone, nor are we separate from the wholeness of all of creation. Yoga is the realization that we are One with Creation and the Creator and can never be separate. Wholeness our true nature. The ultimate goal of all practices and paths of yoga is itself the state of being that is Yoga.

Nidra is the Sanskrit word for "sleep."

And also, Nidra, or Nidra Devi,  is the name of the Goddess of Sleep. "Devi" indiciates the Divine Feminine. Nidra Devi is an aspect of the most powerful and creative aspect of the Divine,  representing the state of consciousness  and the energy of deep sleep, deep rest, the unconscious, and the dream states from which creation is formed.

Ultimately, Yoga Nidra means, Divine Sleep of Union. This is a powerful practice that connects us to our own unconscious ability to create a state of restoration and healing on all levels of our being.

The practice of Yoga Nidra is meant to help us hover between a state of sleep and wakefulness—full awareness in a fully relaxed state. During this state, we can more easily “let go,” and surrender. In such a state, healing can take place where healing is needed.

You can read more about Yoga Nidra here in this article at Very Well Mind where I'm quoted along with other Yoga Nidra guides.

I'd love for you to join me virtually for weekly online Yoga Nidra sessions Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. Eastern time.
